Kibera Parade 2023

First Annual Parade in Olympic, Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, Earth, Universe

Kibera Parade 2023, a true community-based parade happens Saturday 2nd December 2023 with a starting time of 2pm sharp. Celebrating the creatives working, living & visiting Kibera.

The parade will launch near the Chief’s camp in Olympic going through the Kibera Arts District (KAD) area & ending near the Olympic stage, Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya. The parade route is short & expected to run for about an hour & half at the most.

Some very well known & followed musicians will take the front, middle & rear of the parade as well as hold a mini concert at the very end. This is a true family event for everyone and it is no doubt going to be a lot of work for all the volunteers but Fun is for sure on the agenda. Including Music, Dance, Acrobats, local Celebs, many Youth Groups, well known Brands & more.

The parade is all about community & taking art to the streets. “We wanted to highlight the real energy of our vibrant community, that typically gets news stories of protest & unrest. Kibera is way more than that. The parade & other art events going on are intentionally making art for everyone & show Art can change perceptions, joking that we often hear 'Wow - I had no idea Kibera was like this.” says, Patrick Othieno, a Leader of House of Friends & Co-Visionary of the Kibera Arts District.

Reach out to the Kibera Arts District team to learn how you can help make not just the parade a success but also promote your business or organization. We have limited spaces for this year’s parade & the interest has been really high from all sectors of the community within Kibera & the larger Nairobi area.

The parade effort is only one of many creative activities for the locals & people around the world to enjoy during the Grand Opening Season (Now thru the end of 2023) for the Kibera Arts District launch being led by House of Friends Kenya.
